FATIMA COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT PROJECT

Established in 1999 the Fatima Community Participation Programme gives our participants the opportunity to engage in formal/informal educational training.  There are annually 15 places for local people and the programme focuses on the needs of the participants including educational/personal development, etc.

Mission Statement

The aim of the CE project is to provide quality training for local people enabling them to reach their full potential by developing participants confidence, self esteem and skills base.

Objectives

arts405
  • To provide a range of services to the community of Fatima Mansions, which  fulfil the aims and objectives of the sponsor group – Fatima Groups United.
  • To provide quality training for participants, which will enable them achieve their full potential.
  • To provide ‘real’ work experience for participants, within Fatima Mansions and Rialto which will lead to future employment in the wider community.

Background

In 1998 FGU became the sponsors of the Community Employment Project. In that time the CE project has played a vital role in providing back-up and supports to services operating within the community.  The project has two supervisors and thirty-three participants, who avail of a wide range of training including, IT/computers, community youth work, junior/leaving certificate, administration skills, safepass/manual handling training, etc.

ACTIVITIES:

The services that provide placements include the following:

      • Creche
      • Homework Club
      • Youth Services
      • Health Initiative
